Pasadena area should aim at achieving a higher level of public education in order for it to become a truly world class city. There are excellent public schools in the surrounding areas and there is need to improve the public schools in the City of Pasadena. This can be rather difficult and tricky due to the Cities demographics. The city itself has a massive number of lower income families compared to other cities. And good public school usually comes about due to the commitment and involvement of the parents. The parents’ involvement in terms of money is what leads to good public schools. Pasadena city has a superior economic diversity than other cities but the wealthy families do not like to invest in public schools. This has led to the creation of a large private school industry which usually caters for the rich families’ children. The way it is right now is that the Pasadena society has reached a compromise and a symbiosis between the rich and the low income families.
The rich send their kids to the many fine private schools and the low earners send them to public schools. What I will do is that I will work with groups and schemes to demand that the public schools get superior and improved facilities such that the private schools will be seen as a lesser alternative.
Leadership Pasadena program
What I aim to bring to leadership Pasadena program is my commitment, patience, my consistency in attending and my capabilities to learn quickly. I will bring evidence of my commitment to development of my community and the contribution of my talents and energies as a volunteer in community service.
Why I want to join the Pasadena Leadership program is because I want the program to help me unleash my potential as well as help me acquire a deep insight into my purpose in life.
I also want to learn and develop the skills that will help me lead an effective life for the benefit and good of all. I also want to know what it takes to be a great leader who can make a real difference in my community because that is what I want to become; a great leader. I want to learn new skills, build my confidence and acquire an understanding on how to make and bring a change in the world.
After completing the program, I will consolidate all the learning that I will have acquired and translate it into actions i.e. either through my individual actions or through group projects designed to address the needs of my constituents. I will use the empowerement I will have gained from the program, to make a difference in my community.

When my two youngest children, now nineteen and twenty, were in the third grade, Roosevelt Elmentary School was designated as a “traditional school” in Hutchinson, KS, with uniforms being one stipulation for attending. Students whose parents did not like the intent of uniforms were granted to transfer their kids outside of the area. The theory was that students would learn superior and be more productive from an educational standpoint if they wore uniforms.
Children from homes with single parents, low income remuneration earners, and those families on public assistance were no longer prefabricated to feel inadequate by students whose parents could afford clothes and shoes with designer labels. When I volunteered in my children’s classrooms, other classrooms, or we attended school related functions midway through that first year, I saw a change in the behaviors, grades, and overall performance of the students. There was no questioning the fact that the changes only began occurring after the switch to uniforms for all students.
Teachers I talked to had also seen a marked improvement in the self esteem of some kids because the uniforms ensured that all students were treated equal no matter how low their parent(s) income was. (We had a next door neighbor in the area where we rented a home before buying a home in the Roosevelt school district, who taught middle school English. She told me during a conversation one evening that she herself, and some other public school instructors throughout K-12 often judged students at the beginning of apiece school year, assessing them visually according to their posture, clothing, hair styles, etc. and deciding at that point where to seat those students and whether to focus as much time on trying to instruct them).
The school principal saw a decrease in the number of students being sent to the office for not paying attention in class and for being disruptive. And, in a surprising admission, the school administrative staff and instructors reported that most of the ‘poor kids’ grades showed marked improvement since they were no longer taunted and prefabricated fun of as much because of out of style, worn, and ill fitting clothing and shoes. A couple of those students who attended school with my daughter went on to become honor students and star athletes in middle school and high school, as wearing the uniforms while at Roosevelt Elementary School helped them overcome their feelings of inadequacies among their peers while feeling more accepted.
The competition between and among peers also lessened over time. The educational bent became more goal oriented with specific outcomes, and instructors could superior keep kids focused on learning. As a traditional school more stress was put on literacy, Math, English, developing problem solving skills, and Science. Instructors felt, and as a parent and classroom volunteer I agreed, that students could superior comprehend the importance of a well rounded elementary school curriculum now that they no longer worried so much about “keeping up with the Jones”, or how they measured up to their peers in materialistic things like clothes.
Although me and my husband prefabricated a pretty good living, I did appreciate the fact that we didn’t have to spend a small fortune on clothing for my daughter and son. JC Penny’s, Walmart, Target, Sears, and the Dollar and Dollar General stores carried the uniforms. The Dollar Stores sold the uniforms for a much lower price which helped families with lower incomes and that were on public assistance get and keep uniforms for their children.
The school also set up an exchange during school registration apiece year for lower income families to get uniforms for their kids that the wealthier parents donated when their kids outgrew them. This was true school and community spirit. Few parents withdrew their kids from Roosevelt, and most concurred that requiring students to wear uniforms was one of the smartest decisions the school district could have made.
Parents were encouraged to be actively involved in the selection of the uniforms and the school district prefabricated pamphlets and other information acquirable on a variety of styles and colors. Several community meetings were held so that parents who had kids attending Roosevelt Elementary School could raise concerns and ask questions. This was the first time a public school in the community was selected for uniforms. Many parents concurred that uniforms might work and would be acceptable for elementary and middle school age children, but that high school age kids should probably not be subjected to the same rules.

America was founded upon the Bible and now has forgotten the God of the Bible. Early American schools taught the moral values from the Bible, with school prayer, today’s public school system prohibit teaching moral values from the Bible, or even allowing students to pray to a God that a majority of faiths in this country recognize. The result is USA has become a land with much looser morals then four decades ago, which is having a negative affect on all sectors of our society.
The U.S. is at the top of the world’s divorce charts on marital breakups.” The United Says Supreme court prefabricated a terrible decision when they ruled to have prayer removed from schools in 1962. Statistics show that rebellion and violence have dramatically increased since that time. When prayer and Bible was removed from the schools cases of sexual transmitted diseases increased, Divorce rate in increased, (Now U.S. is at the top one of the world’s divorce charts on marital breakups.) unwanted pregnancies, immodesty, abortions, premarital sex, single parents, Vandalism, suicides, Adultery, prisons are full with criminals, arrogant and rebellious childrens, unmarried couples living together, violent crimes , drugs, alcohol, Gun and school shootings, sexual predators, sexual abuse ,pornography, nudity bars, sexual perversions, immorality, Unrighteous ways, Unrighteous philosophies, Unrighteous desires, decline of education, economy and society has been increased. Since God is gone from Schools Higher Education is lowered.. Sin has fascinated them. As a result now USA is a lawless, sin filled nation, full of abominations such as Homosexual acts, Hands that shed innocent blood, Wickedness, Violence, etc
Bible is the foundation of our life, if that foundation is not there in the life there is a decline in righteous living and increase in sin living. Paul indicated in his letter to Timothy that “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God might be thoroughly equipped for each good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.
When you remove God you invite everything that is wicked to come in and destroy. Because some people are destroyed from demand of knowledge and there is a continuous attempt to take God out of everything we do. Here is what the bible states for them.
Hosea 4:5 you stumble day and night and the prophets stumble with you. So I will destroy your mother– my people are destroyed from demand of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.
Amos 2:4 this is what the LORD says: “For three sins of Judah, even for four, I will not turn back [my wrath]. Because they have rejected the law of the LORD and have not kept his decrees, because they have been led astray by false gods, the gods their ancestors followed, I will send fire upon Judah that will consume the fortresses of Jerusalem.”
“In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:6).
Even some of the kids who go to public schools are very arrogant, rebellious, and ungodly. Home is the first school, even in their home there is no Godliness, no prayer, no respect, and most of the kids come from dysfunctional families, broken families where there are crimes, violence, broken relationships, drug abuse etc.Even in their homes they don’t fear God and parents have forgotten to discipline their kids according to Gods word and they live according to world’s word which has caused all the chaos and moral decline in our society. God’s word provides the ideal way to raise kids and God anticipates parents to raise their kids to serve Him. Before that Parents must be good examples for their kids in everything, because kids are natural imitators, we must place God’s Word first pray in faith, obey God, and achievement in love, God will work in our children’s lives and change them.
There are lots of people who do not believe in God, who never repented of their sin in our society. The Bible is a shut book to them and they can't comprehend it. A lost mortal without God’s Spirit can't comprehend the Bible. Lost people tend to seek out and find a false god to worship that will not condemn their lifestyle. If their lifestyle includes porn, sexual immorality, drinking, rock music, or the occult practices such as Halloween etc a lost mortal will seek out a false god that will approve of such things. When you rebuke their evil life styles they state Judge Not in order to justify their sin and rebellious ways. Public schools and even some private and Christian schools can be spiritual battlegrounds for our children. They might be inundated with anti-Christian doctrine, relative morality, and secular humanistic theories. Kids tend to adopt the values of those with whom they spend the most time. In schools, they are exposed to the value systems of non-Christian students, teachers, and faculty. They might be told that homosexuality is simply an “alternative lifestyle,” that abortion is acceptable, and sex before marriage is normal and healthy. Killing is not limited to our schools. Street gangs are fighting it out and senseless murders are taking place in our major cities each day in our society. The family structure in our nation has been breaking down over the last few generations with so much divorce leaving kids without the proper supervision and home environment to keep them safe.
Blindness is God’s judgment on a rebellious and disobedient people this is how Jesus quoted the verse in John: “He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, Lest they should see with their eyes, Lest they should comprehend with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them” (John 12:40). God blinded Israel because they had continually rejected God’s word until the Lord gave up trying to reveal Himself to them and caused them to be blinded. That is exactly why some people, even Christians, just don’t get the message no matter how much you explain it, or try to convince them that they need to change. They have been blinded and are under God’s judgment.
This website gives info on the things happening in our schools. http://www.101reasons.org/
Our society has such an preoccupation with guns .School shootings have been making the remarkable headlines in the U.S.A. at an increased frequency. Also you can see here the list of school shootings in United States.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School_shooting.
A Department of Education Survey which examined violence in U.S. schools reported that public schools nationwide experienced more than 11,000 fights in which weapons were used, 4,000 rapes and other sexual assaults and 7,000 robberies. Other reports from Time and Newsweek magazines tell us the suicide rate among U.S. teens has risen 120% in the last 15 years while drug use has risen nearly 80% since 1992. The youth of any nation are simply reflection of the parents of that nation. When sin is not dealt with in any society, the result of those sins will always produce violence. The generation living in the days of Noah was similar to our day.
Israel was instructed to instruct their kids the statutes of the Lord and the essence of that teaching is found in Deuteronomy 6:4-7: “Hear O Israel: The LORD our God is One LORD.” This is known as the Shema, which is the first word of verse four. Instructions to instruct kids are also found in Deuteronomy 4:10 and Deuteronomy 11:19. The teaching of God’s truth to kids was the job of the parents and was done in the home. Sadly, this practice is no longer a priority in the homes of many believers, and many leave the instruction in God’s Word to the church or a school or daycares or teachers. The society, school and home need to work together to educate our kids in the establishment and their by raising Godly kids a godly Nation. A Nation that refuses to instruct its kids right from wrong, good from evil will become a corrupt nation, where sin prevails, evil abounds, and kids do as they please according to their own free will. When we remove God’s standards, then man is free to substitute his own standards of morality. God’s word in Judges 21:25 says, “In those days each man did that which was right in his own eyes.”
We have worshipped other gods and called it multiculturalism.
We have endorsed perversion and called it substitute lifestyle.
We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.
We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.
We have killed our unborn and called it choice.
We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.
We have neglected to discipline our kids and called it building self-esteem.
We have abused power and called it politics.
We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition.
We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression.
We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. We are mocking God’s Word, we are offending him more than ever, we are allowing women to kill their babies, we are allowing a minority to re-define marriage and family in order for them to please their selfish and abnormal desires, we are allowing people to take drugs legally, we are telling kids that masturbation, pornography, prostitution, lesbianism, homosexuality, bisexuality, transsexualism and other deviant practices are fine and even good and healthy. We are clearly living in the last days, as the Bible says:
“But comprehend this, that in the last days there will come times of stress. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, inhuman, implacable, slanderers, profligates, fierce, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding the form of belief but denying the power of it. Avoid such people.” 2 Timothy 3:1-5.
We MUST defend Godliness, marriage and family. We MUST defend religious freedom. We MUST combat drugs. We MUST talk out without fear. And we must do it NOW. This day is the day that we can change things. The foolish, ungodly people are going to fight back and persecute us. Yet we should not be afraid of them, for the Holy Bible says: “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Psalm 27:1. “”Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:10
This is what God wants us to do. He commands us: “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is a shame even to talk of the things that they do in secret; but when anything is exposed by the light it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light.” Ephesians 5:11-13
Expose the evil actions. Be a “good soldier of Christ Jesus” 2 Timothy 2:3.
GOD BLESS you ALL & STAND ON THE TRUTH FOREVER!

Each now and then kids, such as children in elementary school and junior high, tend to argue about private high schools. For example, some might say that attending private high schools will get them into a superior college, which I’m going to speak about here.
Attending a private high school doesn’t have much at all to do with getting you into college. People who have been home-schooled or attended regular high schools and have managed to get into prestigious colleges. Attending good colleges has to do with the following:
Your grades. Getting good grades in high school has lots to do with getting yourself into a good college. If you’re getting C’s and D’s in high school, you might not even graduate from high school, let alone get into a good college. If you get lots of good grades, then you’ll probably be healthy to get yourself into a somewhat decent college. Don’t be a slacker. Doing just a bit of work and putting in some effort into each day can go a long way.
Your SAT/PSAT and ACT scores. This is the most important thing for you to worry about if you want to get yourself into a good college. If you score well on these tests, then you will probably get scholarships from a college. However, if you don’t score high enough on the SAT/PSAT and/or ACT, then you probably won’t get any scholarship at all. If you want to get into a good school and/or get a scholarship, you must go beyond “passing”. Remember, passing is the norm. It’s considered bad if you don’t pass/graduate from high school, and nothing special if you do. Go beyond the norm.
What classes you take. Getting yourself into certain colleges also has to deal with what classes you took and what you are good at. For example, if you took a bunch of art classes in high school and you wanted to go to a college like Harvard or Ohio Say University, then you’re not going to get admitted. For engineering colleges, you’ll need to take some form of sciences and do well in math. For business colleges, you’ll need to take economics and business classes in high school, as well as math.
How well known your high school is. A private high school, like Cathedral in Indianapolis, might not be as well known as a public high school. A public high school like Carmel High School, in Carmel, Indiana, is quite well known. It is currently in the top 10 ideal high schools in the say of Indiana. So, if you attend a school well known to many colleges, then you will have a superior chance than getting into a good college. If you attend an unknown private high school, then you might not get admitted into the college of your choice.
It’s up to you to get good grades in high school. It’s up to you whether you score decently on the SAT/PSAT and ACT tests. It’s up to you about what classes you take. Through all this, it’s up to you to what kind of college you get into. It’s up to you – not your school.
